About

Madeline Holly-Sales is a vocalist and music educator. She is influenced and inspired by a variety of musical genres, ranging from soul to samba.  Madeline is passionate about helping singers explore the capacity for full creative expression through breath, movement, and sound. She loves singing in community, vocal improvisation, and body percussion. Nature and travel are her other muses.

Madeline studied classical piano as a child and young adult.  She grew up singing at home, in church, and in school productions.  During college, she studied West African rhythm through percussion and dance. In 2001, she pursued her dream to deepen her musical knowledge by moving to Brazil where she studied voice, music theory, percussion and dance.

After recovering from vocal injury, she studied classical bel canto to strengthen her technique and endurance as a full-time performing artist. In 2018, she studied vocal improvisation with Rhiannon as part of her program ‘All The Way In’.

In addition to performing and recording, Madeline teaches private voice and piano lessons in Charlottesville, VA.  

Madeline also leads workshops designed to give participants greater access to their own, authentic creative expression.
